LOS ANGELES – Ten officers have been injured and 575 people have been arrested since protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids began in downtown Los Angeles, police said Monday.
The overnight period from Sunday to Monday was comparatively calm, with no arrests reported, according to the LAPD.
That’s a significant change from the Saturday-Sunday period, when officers arrested 35 people on suspicion of failing to disperse, one person on suspicion of resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer and another on suspicion of resisting arrest.

Crowd control operations again involved the use of numerous less-lethal rounds, police said of the Saturday-Sunday period.
“This number reflects an adjustment made to include 14 arrests for looting that occurred earlier in the week, but were not previously included in our tabulation,” according to an LAPD news release.

“Additionally, the number of officers injured has been revised to ten. This correction reflects clarification from the incident command post and reflects the information currently available.”
Police did not disclose the severity of the officers’ injuries.
Protesters returned to the streets of downtown Los Angeles Sunday, one day after the “No Kings Day of Defiance,” a nationwide series of demonstrations against Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration and other policies drew massive crowds to the Civic Center and communities throughout Southern California and the nation.
Meanwhile, despite ongoing community protests, immigration raids were expected to continue this week in Southern California amid Trump administration guidance focusing on cities run by elected Democrats.
Trump administration officials have reportedly set a goal of up to 3,000 deportations per day, but said Friday it would scale back immigration and arrests at agricultural and hospitality sites in response to complaints from employers.
The latest known immigration enforcement effort occurred Saturday when several people were detained during an apparent immigration raid at the Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet.
Video from the scene at 13963 Alondra Blvd. showed masked federal agents apprehending several people Saturday, accompanied by armed U.S. Marines. It was unclear what further actions were taken. (With CNS report)
