Did you catch that magical moment in Netflix’s No. 1 hit “KPop Demon Hunters?”
While the high-energy film dazzled fans with animated fight scenes and fierce K-pop performances, one tender flashback snuck in a familiar voice with none other than Filipino Broadway royalty Lea Salonga.
In a brief yet heartwarming scene from main character Rumi’s flashback, a lullaby gently plays in the background, sung by Salonga herself.
The Tony Award-winning Filipina actress lends her voice to the memory which definitely added depth and warmth to the emotionally charged sequence.
Director Maggie Kang revealed her deep admiration for the talent behind both the speaking and singing performances in the film.
“I have been a fan of these incredible artists and their work for many years,” she said. “So it’s a dream come true to have original songs written and produced for our film by legendary talent.”
“KPop Demon Hunters” follows Huntrix, a K-pop girl group with a secret; they’re also demon-fighting heroes by night. This action-packed story fuses the glossy perfection of K-pop with the thrilling edge of supernatural battles, creating a world where glitter meets grit.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a K-pop-themed movie without a show-stopping soundtrack. Twice takes center stage here, especially with the fierce anthem “Takedown,” performed by Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Chaeyoung.

Twice also brings another hit to the table, “Strategy,” their 2024 collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, slides into the tracklist with swagger and sass.
Both songs have surged in streams since the movie’s release, proving that it’s a full-on music moment.
With Twice dominating the music and Salonga adding emotional nuance, “KPop Demon Hunters” bridges generations and genres as it unites global pop with timeless theatrical flair.
And perhaps most impressively, “KPop Demon Hunters” shows that even fictional idols can produce music that doesn’t just support the story, it rivals real-world chart-toppers.
